Assistant Professor of Visual Media, North Las Vegas Campus

Nevada State University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Visual Media. This position will support Fine Arts core instruction with an emphasis in Visual Media at the new North Las Vegas campus.

Appointment to this position is contingent upon confirmed funding and facility readiness at Nevada State University's North Las Vegas campus. In the event of a delayed campus opening, the University reserves the right to adjust course modality and/or location including to the Henderson campus. The primary location for this position is the North Las Vegas campus. Teaching assignments are determined based on departmental and programmatic needs and may include online courses and/or courses at Nevada State University's Henderson campus.

The Visual Media program includes concentrations in Animation, 3D Animation, Digital Cinema, and Photo/Documentary, and serves the university core through select courses.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Teach 24 credits per academic year, which amounts to four courses per semester.
• Teach lower-division courses in areas related to the Fine Arts core with an emphasis in Visual Media; subject areas may include the following, according to candidate specialties (it is not expected that candidates will be able to teach in all areas):
  • Art (visual foundations, drawing, art appreciation, art history, sculpture)
  • Photography
  • Film studies (survey of film, film history, film language)
  • 3D printing
  • Possible coursework in film music, media creation, or areas related to the above
• Serve on departmental and college-wide committees and perform other service at the university or departmental levels.
• Engage in scholarly activity within your discipline or in the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Required Qualifications:

• Terminal degree in the field of Visual Media.
• Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstration of teaching excellence at the collegiate level.
