Job summary

Oklahoma State University’s Department of Political Science invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Law and Politics beginning August 2027. The successful candidate will contribute to our programs and teaching goals.

The teaching load is 2-2 across introductory and upper-level courses, with graduate seminars offered in person or online, and affiliation with pre-law options and law and legal studies minor. A Ph.D. is required; J.D. and bar license encouraged.

Qualifications

• PhD in Political Science required; ABD acceptable with anticipated completion before Fall 2027.
• Evidence of high-quality research with a trajectory to national profile.
• Evidence of successful college/university-level teaching and mentorship.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and collaborate with students and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Teach introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses; graduate seminars in person or online.
• Contribute to the Pre-Law option within the Political Science major and the Law and Legal Studies minor.
• Possibly teach Introduction to American Government; contribute to department programs.

Assistant Professor of Political Science

The Department of Political Science at Oklahoma State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Law and Politics starting August 2027.

Responsibilities

Teaching responsibilities will be on a 2-2 load and consist of introductory, upper-level undergraduate courses, as well as graduate seminars offered either in person or online. The successful candidate will teach courses contributing to our Pre-Law option within the Political Science major and the Law and Legal Studies minor. We are also highly interested in candidates able to teach introduction to American Government. A Ph.D. in Political Science is required at the time of appointment. Candidates with a J.D. degree and a license to practice law in the United States are particularly encouraged to apply.
