Job summary

Salem State University seeks an Assistant Professor for a full-time, tenure-track position starting September 1, 2027. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in media literacy, mass media and society, and related areas, with emphasis on equity and inclusion.

The role includes teaching, advising, and contributing to departmental and university improvement. Salary is $80,000–$85,000 yearly, with on-site responsibilities in Salem, MA, and a standard 12-credit-hour teaching load

Qualifications

• PhD degree in Media/Communication Studies or related fields.
• Experience in and a commitment to teaching in a multicultural environment with students from a variety of backgrounds and learning styles.
• Experience in interdisciplinary teaching and/or research collaborations.
• Experience with teaching, supervision, and advising.

Responsibilities

• Teach and advise undergraduates in media and communication courses.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of the department and university.
• Maintain teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester; duties subject to funding.
