POSITION SUMMARY

The Anheuser-Busch School of Business at Harris-Stowe State University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Management Information Systems. This position will provide academic and instructional leadership in a discipline that is an essential component of the business core and increasingly important to the preparation of workforce-ready business graduates. The successful candidate will have primary responsibility for both MIS and required business core courses, as well as additional courses aligned with the candidate's qualifications and the evolving needs of the School. The faculty member will also contribute to curriculum innovation in information systems, business technology, business analytics, artificial intelligence, and emerging digital competencies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teach a full-time faculty course load in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, normally 12 credit hours during the fall semester and 12 credit hours during the spring semester.
  • Teach MIS 0104, MIS 0305, and other information systems, technology, analytics, or business courses consistent with academic qualifications.
  • Provide instruction across face-to-face, online, and other University-approved instructional modalities as assigned.
  • Create applied learning experiences that prepare scholars to use business technologies effectively in professional environments.
  • Support the continued development of curriculum in information systems, business technology, business analytics, artificial intelligence, automation, and emerging digital tools.
  • Maintain currency in technologies and digital practices affecting business and industry.
  • Integrate contemporary business applications and technology into courses and student learning experiences.
  • Maintain required office hours and provide accessible academic support to scholars.
  • Advise and mentor assigned undergraduate scholars.
  • Participate in curriculum development, program review, assessment, Assurance of Learning, accreditation, and continuous improvement.
  • Assist the School in evaluating and strengthening technology-related competencies throughout the business curriculum.
  • Participate in School and University committees, meetings, professional development, and required University activities.
  • Engage in scholarly, professional, and service activities appropriate to the discipline.
  • Support student retention, career readiness, internships, applied learning, and professional development.
  • Perform other faculty responsibilities consistent with University policy and the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Earned doctorate or other terminal degree in Management Information Systems, Information Systems, Information Technology Management, Business Analytics, Business Administration with an appropriate information systems specialization, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Academic preparation sufficient to meet institutional faculty qualification requirements for assigned courses.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary information systems and business technologies.
  • Ability to teach technology concepts in an applied business environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use instructional and business technologies.
  • Commitment to student-centered teaching and undergraduate student success.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • College or university teaching experience in Management Information Systems or a related discipline.
  • Professional experience in information systems, technology, analytics, digital transformation, or a related business field.
  • Experience with business analytics, artificial intelligence, automation, data visualization, cybersecurity, or emerging business technologies.
  • Experience developing applied, project-based, or technology-enhanced learning experiences.
  • Relevant professional certifications.
  • Experience with curriculum development, Assurance of Learning, program assessment, or accreditation.
  • Experience teaching and mentoring diverse, first-generation, or historically underserved student populations.
FACULTY EXPECTATIONS

Full-time faculty are expected to fulfill the teaching, advising, office-hour, assessment, professional development, scholarly/service, and University service responsibilities established by Harris-Stowe State University and the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement. Faculty appointments and conditions of employment are subject to University policy and the operative Collective Bargaining Agreement.
