Job description

University of the Ozarks invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Information Science position, beginning in August 2027. Candidates should be ABD or have earned a Ph.D. in Information Science or a related field by the start of fall classes in August 2027. Candidates with a master’s degree and a record of teaching excellence will be considered. We seek an innovative teacher-scholar who will help develop and strengthen the curriculum in information science and prepare students to use data, technology, and information responsibly and effectively in a wide range of professional and community settings.

The successful candidate will teach introductory and advanced courses in information science and contribute to interdisciplinary programs across the College. Areas of specialization are open, with particular interest in candidates whose teaching and scholarship engage one or more of the following areas: data science and analytics; database design and management; human-computer interaction; information visualization; geographic information systems; artificial intelligence and machine learning; or information ethics and policy.

We especially welcome candidates who can help students connect technical knowledge with the human contexts in which information is created, organized, interpreted, and used. The successful candidate will be committed to accessible and inclusive undergraduate teaching and able to engage students with varied levels of technical preparation. The teaching load is 24 credit hours per academic year.

Candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in working with a culturally diverse student body. Excellent communication skills and support of the University's mission are also required.
