Position Details

This full-time faculty position is on-campus and in-person. TheDepartment of History at Texas Christian University invitesapplications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor tobegin August 2027. The position is for a scholar of modernimperialism in the Global South outside the Americas, withpreferred research specializations in the global histories ofscience, medicine, or technology. The successful candidate mustdemonstrate the ability to teach survey courses on World Historysince 1500, undergraduate upper-level courses in their area ofspecialization that support the department’s minor in GlobalHistory, and graduate seminars that contribute a global dimensionto the department’s PhD program. In addition to teachingundergraduate and graduate students, other duties include carryingout a scholarly research agenda and contributing service at thedepartment and university levels.

The TCU Department of History has 19 full-time faculty members wholead an undergraduate program, including minors in Global Historyand in Military, War, and Conflict Studies, plus a PhD program thatspecializes in US and Latin American history.
