Role Description

The Assistant Professor of Finance is a full-time, on-site faculty role located in Lawrence, KS at the University of Kansas School of Business. Day-to-day responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate finance courses, developing and updating curriculum, and fostering an engaging, inclusive classroom environment. The role involves conducting high-quality scholarly research, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting findings at academic and professional conferences. The faculty member will advise and mentor students, participate in departmental and school service, collaborate with colleagues on academic initiatives, and contribute to the School’s mission of excellence in research, teaching, and community engagement.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Finance and Corporate Finance, with the ability to teach and conduct research in these areas.
• Knowledge of Economics and Accounting sufficient to integrate related concepts into finance courses and research.
• Demonstrated Research skills, including the ability to design studies, analyze data, and publish in reputable academic journals.
• Relevant academic qualifications, typically a Ph.D. in Finance or a closely related field (ABD candidates near completion may be considered).
• Evidence of or potential for excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Strong quantitative, analytical, and communication skills, with a commitment to inclusive, student-centered instruction.
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students and to contribute to service and governance within the School.
• Experience or interest in securing research funding and engaging with industry or professional organizations is beneficial.
