Job summary

George Mason University’s Costello College of Business seeks a full-time, 9-month Instructional Faculty member in Finance, based in Fairfax. The position includes teaching and research responsibilities within the Finance Area, affiliated with CFA Institute.

The candidate should hold a Ph.D. in Finance or be ABD with degree expected before Fall 2027, demonstrate collegiality, and contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching, research, and service to the department.

Finance is one of the six areas of the Costello College of Business. The faculty of the finance area within the Costello College of Business at George Mason University have leading academic research contributions in the areas of financial markets, real estate, fintech, and more. Responsibilities

• Conducts high-quality research for publication in top-tier academic journals;
• Teaches finance courses in undergraduate and/or graduate programs. The teaching load for this position is determined according to the College’s workload policy; and
• Additional responsibilities include service to: the Finance Area; the Costello College of Business; the University, and the profession, such as journal reviewing/editing, academic community engagement, student mentoring, committee membership, and interfacing with the business community.

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent in Finance, or be ABD with a documented expectation of degree completion before the start of Fall 2027; and
• Collegiality and ability to work well with colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as an Assistant Professor; and
• Evidence of teaching effectiveness.
