The department is staffed by27 full-time and 20 part-time faculty, who create engaging andchallenging academic environments that provide students withhands-on, real-world experience. The department’s associate degree Nursing and Dental Hygieneprograms are among its most established, known for strong licensurepass rates and employment outcomes that reflect the caliber offaculty and the rigor of clinical training. The Health Science pathway provides foundational coursework andprerequisites for competitive programs such as Dental Hygiene,Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Health Information Administration,and Medical Technology, preparing students for a range of careersin the rapidly expanding field of allied health medicine. Position Description

Perimeter College invites applications for an assistant professorposition in dental hygiene. This is a teaching-focused position:80% of the workload is instruction, with 10% in service to thedepartment, college, and university, and 10% in scholarly andcreative activities. Perimeter faculty are responsible forproviding 27-32 credit hours of instruction per academic year andengaging in service to the department, college, and university aswell as scholarly and creative activities.. Teachingresponsibilities include didactic courses and clinical instruction,and may include clinic management or coordination. PerimeterCollege faculty maintain a campus presence, and the successfulapplicant will demonstrate a strong commitment to earlyundergraduate teaching and learning, and the ability to thriveinan academic setting with an access mission. Perimeter College is amulti-campus institution, and the teaching assignment may be on anyof the college’s campuses. The dental hygiene program is located onour Dunwoody campus.

Required Experience

2+ years of full-time clinical practice or equivalent as a licenseddental hygienist.

Required Education

A minimum of a Master’s degree is required in the teachingdiscipline or a closely related field completed by the appointmentdate. Additionally, an associate or bachelor’s degree in dentalhygiene from a dental hygiene program accredited by the Commissionon Dental Accreditation is required by the anticipated date ofemployment. Salary range: $53,350-$65,000

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

• Ed.D. or Ph.D. in teaching or closely related field ispreferred. Salary range: $60,000-$65,000
• College teaching experience. One year is preferred and caninclude experience as a teaching assistant at a college oruniversity.
• Experience teaching online and using a distance learningplatform.
• Experience or demonstrated interest in high-impact educationalpractices, scholarship of teaching and learning, buildingcollege-to-career linkages, and/or other pedagogical initiativesthat enhance student success.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods with ademonstrated knowledge of instructional technology.
• Ability to create a sense of belonging for a varied studentpopulation and facilitate student learning in both the in-personand virtual learning environments.
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Excellent communication, organizational and computer skills(able to maintain appropriate records).
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues to achieve discipline,department, or college goals.

Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations, etc
