Job summary

The University of Virginia’s Department of Chemistry invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in physical chemistry, with emphasis on theoretical and computational approaches to catalysis and energy science.

The successful candidate will establish an independent, funded research program and contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching; the teaching load is one course per semester. Collaboration across UVA and the Catalysis Initiative is encouraged.

Qualifications

• PhD by appointment in chemistry or related field.
• Strong record of scientific research and mentoring at undergraduate/graduate levels.
• Expertise in theoretical/computational physical chemistry and catalysis research.

Responsibilities

• Establish an independent, funded research program in physical chemistry.
• Contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching; teach loads are one course per semester.
• Engage in departmental, university, and professional service and collaboration across UVA.
