Description: The Basic Sciences Department provides excellent instructors for thebasic science courses required in our programs.

Job Description Summary: The Assistant Professor in Basic Science is expected to excel atteaching specific graduate and undergraduate courses in their areaof expertise. This annual position focusses on human anatomy,however, candidates with expertise in either neuroscience orphysiology will be preferred. In addition to their teachingresponsibilities, Assistant Professors are also expected toparticipate in scholarship (either educational or anatomicalresearch). Duties and Responsibilities

• Contribute to student learning, professional growth, andadvancement.
• Demonstrate academic competence in gross anatomy and work withother faculty, staff, and departments to align curricula asneeded.
• Maintain a growth mindset toward student learning and teachingpractice; remain flexible in adapting course content for differentcohorts.
• Demonstrate a high degree of self-efficacy, accountability forlearner outcomes and advocacy for student success.
• Collaborate effectively with a variety of stakeholder groupswithin the University to increase student performance.
• Provide both lecture-based and laboratory-based instruction inhuman anatomy as well as physiology and/ or neuroscience
• Be open to teaching both in person and online lectures andlaboratories.
• Perform service to the department by participating indepartmental meetings.
• Perform service to the University by joining committees,attending seminars, meetings, and trainings.
• Perform scholarship at the level necessary for promotion to thenext rank.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

• Applicant must have a doctoral degree (PhD, MD, DPM, Ed.D, orsimilar) in either Anatomy or a closely related discipline.Clinical doctors may also apply.
• Candidates with an M.S. degree may be considered based onteaching experience.
• At least two years of experience teaching human gross anatomy;graduate level experience is preferred.
• At least two years of experience teaching human gross anatomydissection; graduate level experience is preferred.
• Applicants who are also qualified to teach either Neuroanatomyor Physiology at the graduate are preferred.

Additional Job Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds; ability to carry,push, pull, kneel, and stoop.
• Must be able to move about campus to accomplish instructionaland service tasks.
• Must be able to teach in person at our Oakland campus and/oronline live.
• Ability to read, write, compose, and edit complexdocuments.
• Ability to do deskwork/computer work for prolonged periods oftime.
• Must be able to express ideas clearly through verbal andwritten communication.
• Ability to receive and interpret detailed information throughverbal and written communication.
• Must be willing to mentor students.

Job Shift

Pay Range:

Up to $105,000 [annually/exempt], depending on experience,qualifications, geographic location, and other relevantfactors.
