Job summary

Murray State University seeks a faculty member to teach a variety of undergraduate mathematics and statistics courses and graduate courses in their specialty. The position requires maintaining an ongoing program of research and scholarly activity, and active participation in university and departmental service.

Minimum qualifications include a PhD in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics, or ABD with a documented plan of completion by the appointment date.

Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Teaching a variety of undergraduate courses in mathematics andstatistics and graduate courses in their specialty, maintaining anon-going program of research and scholarly activity, andparticipation in university and departmental service.

Minimum Education Requirements:

PhD inMathematics or Applied Mathematics is required. ABDs with adocumented plan of completion by appointment date will beconsidered.

Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements:

• Must have at least some collegiateteaching experience in mathematics or statistics courses at thelevel of the Calculus sequence or below. Evidence of outstandingteaching ability.
• An active research program or demonstrated strongpotential for research.
• Excellent verbal and written communicationskills.

Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications:

Candidates whose specialty isDifferential Equations or Algebra are particularly encouraged toapply.
