Job summary

The George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Political Science with a specialization in International Security. The hire will teach and publish in areas including causes of armed conflict, deterrence, nuclear weapons, alliances, cybersecurity, and grand strategy.

The successful candidate will develop new undergraduate and graduate courses, engage with policy communities, and affiliate with the Institute

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Political Science or other relevant social science discipline at the time of appointment.
• Demonstrated sustained high-quality research and substantial teaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop new undergraduate and graduate courses in international security studies.
• Affiliated with the Elliott School's Institute for Security and Conflict Studies and other regional institutes; engage with policy issues.
• Teach in international relations and/or regional studies; contribute to research and service.
