Qualifications include a Ph.D. in Italian or a related field, a strong college-level teaching record in Italian and/or English, and demonstrated enthusiasm for interdisciplinary teaching and service.

The Department of Italian invites applications for a tenure‑track position in Italian beginning Fall 2027. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in Italian language teaching and holds a Ph.D. They must be able to teach courses in both Italian and English; teaching responsibilities include language courses and literature/culture courses at all undergraduate levels in Italian.
Research specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates who can teach courses on topics such as contemporary Italian culture and politics, immigration, representation, identity, and colonialism that might contribute to interdisciplinary programs such as Black Studies and/or Comparative Literature.
