Job description

The Department of Neuroscience at the University of California, Berkeley (UCB) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Computational Neuroscience at the Assistant Professor level.

We seek applicants studying fundamental questions within the areas of Computational Neuroscience broadly defined. Example areas of interest include, but are not limited to, neural data analytics, neural circuit modeling, mathematical models of perception/memory/cognition/motor production, statistical modeling and machine learning approaches for neural data mining and brain modeling, theoretical neuroscience and biological intelligence. Track record of collaborations with experimental labs and synergy with research in our department will also be considered.

Neuroscience faculty at the assistant rank demonstrate excellence, originality, and productivity in research, the strong potential to obtain external funding, a capacity for excellence in teaching and mentoring of undergraduates, graduate students, and postdocs, and a commitment to service consistent with Berkeley's principles of community. Applicants are encouraged to visit (Home | Berkeley Neuroscience) to learn more about the Department and our mission.

The Department is committed to addressing the family needs of faculty, including dual career couples and single parents. We are also interested in candidates who have had non-traditional career paths or who have taken time off for family reasons, or who have achieved excellence in careers outside academia. For information about potential relocation to Berkeley, or career needs of accompanying partners and spouses, please visit: (New Senate Faculty | Office for Faculty Equity & Welfare)
