Job Description

The purpose of this position is to provide faculty support to meet the teaching, research and patient care needs of the Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery and to assist in fulfilling UTMB’s threefold mission.

Essential Job Functions

• Provide direct patient care, including surgery, consultative services, outpatient services, and care of hospitalized patients.
• Participate in all teaching activities of the Department including conferences and lectures, bedside teaching, and rounds.
• Supervise house staff in the operating room, clinics, and inpatient services.
• Provide continuing medical education and attend local, regional, and national meetings.
• Supervise and evaluate residents; provide medical direction and participate in committee memberships at the Department and Health System levels.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved medical school.
• Completed an approved residency training program.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
• Held Texas Medical license without restrictions.

Salary

Commensurate with experience.
