Job summary

The Department of Anesthesiology at Baylor College of Medicine seeks a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to join our team as Assistant Professor. The CRNA will provide perioperative anesthesia care under supervision, performing preoperative evaluations, intraoperative management, and postoperative care in multiple surgical settings at Houston campuses.

Minimum qualifications include a Master's degree in Nursing, Texas RN license, CRNA certification, and BLS with ACLS/PALS.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) required.
• Texas RN license current.
• CRNA certification from NBCRNA/APRN.
• BLS; ACLS/PALS required.

Responsibilities

• Administers all forms of anesthesia including inhaled, IV, neuraxial, and regional for procedures.
• Preoperative evaluation and formulation of anesthetic plan.
• Inserts and uses monitors (invasive/noninvasive) as indicated.
• Responds to emergencies to manage airway.
• Documents anesthetic information and patient condition.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

The Department of Anesthesiology at Baylor College of Medicine focuses on patient care and research in all aspects of specialty including critical care, postoperative cognitive dysfunction, simulator-based anesthesiology education, obstetric anesthesia and pain management.

The Department of Anesthesiology is seeking qualified Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) candidates to provide services at Baylor St. Luke\'s Medical Center for our general anesthesia service. Under the direction of an attending anesthesiologist, a certified registered nurse anesthetist will assist in perioperative patient management, including the performance of the preoperative anesthetic evaluation, intraoperative anesthesia, and postoperative anesthesia care. These responsibilities may be carried out in the operating room, intensive care unit, radiology suites, endoscopy suites, or other places in hospital designated by the attending anesthesiologist.

Summary

Work with our Anesthesiology services team to provide high-quality, evidence-based anesthesia and pain care services at all acuity levels, for all patients, and for several different reasons in a variety of settings.

Job Duties

• Inserts and uses invasive and noninvasive monitors, as indicated.
• Responds to emergency/code situations to provide airway management.
• Documents anesthetic information and patient condition.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Master's degree in in Nursing.

Experience: None required.

Certification:

• Required: Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing.
• Required: Current Certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) from the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. ACLS/PALS card required.
