Job summary

Jacksonville State University’s Houston Cole Library invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor and Cataloging and Collection Development Librarian.

The successful candidate will catalog materials, maintain authority records, ensure catalog integrity, and help shape Technical Services policies. The role also reviews current selection tools, submits orders to Acquisitions, and oversees collection development and assessments.

Qualifications

  • MLIS from an ALA-accredited program required or equivalent.
  • Experience with cataloging, RDA, and OCLC Connexion preferred.
  • Tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor and Cataloging/Collection Development Librarian.

Library Faculty Position

Jacksonville State University’s Houston Cole Library invites applications for a tenure track position for Assistant Professor and Cataloging and Collection Development Librarian.

The Assistant Professor and Cataloging and Collection Development Librarian in Library Services has primary responsibilities of cataloging materials as they are received, maintains authority records, ensures the accuracy and integrity of the Library’s catalog, and plans and implements policies and procedures that address needs of the Technical Services Department. This position also scans appropriate reviews and selection tools on an ongoing basis to identify potential additions to the collection, regularly submits orders for materials to the Acquisitions Department, and oversees the collection management and development policies and processes including the subject assessments.

This nine-month, tenure track position has an annual salary of $50,000.00.

Candidates must possess a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program.

The preferred candidate will have previous experience in cataloging, RDA, and OCLC’s Connexion.
