Qualifications

• MD/DO eligible to practice in Georgia.
• Board certified or eligible in Anesthesiology.
• Advanced Perioperative TEE certification.
• Experience with thoracic transplants, aortic surgery, and mechanical support is a plus.
• Excellence in clinical care, teaching, and scholarly activity.
• Ability to handle clinical care involving potentially infectious materials.

Responsibilities

• Provide anesthesiology care for open and minimally invasive CABGs and valve surgery.
• Care for heart and lung transplants, aortic repairs, VAD insertions, thoracic surgery, EP procedures, and structural heart interventions.
• Educate medical students, residents, and anesthesia staff; participate in clinical teaching and scholarly activity.
• Deliver high-quality clinical care within a collaborative care team.
• Provide medical direction at a 1:2 or 1:3 ratio.
• Engage in innovative research.

Job description

• Join the Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology team at Emory University Hospital and Emory University Hospital Midtown
• Provide anesthesiology care for open and minimally invasive CABGs and valve surgery
• Provide care for heart and lung transplants, open and endovascular aortic repairs, VAD insertions, thoracic surgery, EP procedures, and structural heart interventions
• Work in 100% Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology, with optional split coverage involving Surgical Specialties, liver transplant, critical care, and related areas
• Participate in home call exclusively for cardiothoracic cases
• Deliver high-quality clinical care
• Participate in innovative research
• Educate medical students, future anesthesiologists, and anesthetists
• Participate in clinical teaching and scholarly activity
• Work within a robust, collaborative care team model
• Provide medical direction at a 1:2 or 1:3 ratio

Requirements

• M.D., D.O., or foreign equivalent
• Eligible to apply for a medical license in the state of Georgia
• American Board of Anesthesiology board certified/eligible
• National Board of Echocardiography Advanced Perioperative TEE board certified/eligible
• Experience with thoracic transplants, aortic surgery, and mechanical support is a plus
• Excellence across clinical care, clinical teaching, and scholarly activity
• Ability to provide clinical patient care and work with blood, body fluids, tissues, or other potentially infectious materials
