Job description

Assistant Professor, Biological Science – Join Broward College as a full‑time contract eligible teaching position in Biological Science.

Broward College, a large state college of South Florida, invites applicants for a yearly two‑semester (163‑day) contract that begins in August 2026. The position involves online instruction and requires a physical office presence.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate mastery of the specific discipline, a deep commitment to fostering student success, academic achievement, persistence, technological competence, and skills that engage students and prepare them for productive lives.
  • Employ teaching methods to accommodate various levels of academic preparation and incorporate appropriate and engaging technology across different modalities of instruction.
  • Facilitate the needs of different learners across programs through responsive pedagogical techniques and effective practices.
  • Willingly examine and adapt instructional, relational, and classroom practices to better engage and support students.
  • Engage in student consultation, course preparation, review of course outlines, and preparation of course syllabi.
  • Provide prompt and constructive support through regular office hours, timely feedback on assessments and activities, and prompt email responses.
  • Adhere to reporting deadlines such as grade processing, enrollment verification, syllabus submission, and textbook adoption.
  • Participate in service to the college and its community.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, assessment of student learning outcomes, shared decision‑making, faculty organizations, and departmental course and program reviews.
  • Engage in professional development, including attending educational and disciplinary conferences.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
  • Master's Degree in Biology or a related Biological Science subfield (Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology) or a Master's with 18 graduate credit hours in Anatomy & Physiology or Microbiology.
  • Terminal degree preferred.
  • High level of digital literacy and commitment to teaching.
  • Minimum one year full‑time teaching experience in higher education preferred.
