Job summary

Carleton College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Animal Physiology beginning September 1, 2027. The successful candidate will teach five courses annually in a liberal arts setting, including Human Physiology and Lab, and contribute to BIOL126.

An active undergraduate research program is expected, with college support for student stipends and grant writing. We value inclusive excellence and encourage applicants from groups underrepresented in Biology.

Qualifications

• PhD in biology or related field; postdoctoral experience preferred.
• Applicants completing PhD by June 2027 will be considered.
• Commitment to inclusive excellence and closing equity gaps in teaching and learning.

Responsibilities

• Teach five courses per year within the trimester system, including Human Physiology and Lab.
• Contribute to Energy Flow in Biological Systems (BIOL126) and develop an upper-level seminar.
• Mentor undergraduates in research and collaborate with skilled staff in labs.
