Job summary

Oregon Health & Science University seeks an Assistant Professor in Periodontics within the School of Dentistry, Portland campus. The appointee will engage in graduate and predoctoral teaching, patient care, and service activities, with opportunities for scholarly work and committee involvement.

Reporting to the Division Head, this Regular Part-Time appointment supports teaching and clinical duties, contributing to education, research, and community oro-facial health programs.

Qualifications

• D.D.S. or D.M.D. from CODA-accredited school
• Advanced education in Periodontics from CODA-accredited program
• Board Certification in Periodontics highly desired
• Ability to obtain Oregon Dental License and sedation certification
• BLS from AHA; onboarding course during onboarding
• Experience in teaching, research, service, patient care, and academic management; strong interpersonal/communication skills

Responsibilities

• Participation in the education of residents and dental students, with scholarly and service activity.
• Focus on clinical and didactic teaching and student assessment at the graduate and predoctoral level; opportunity for participation in research, Departmental planning activities and committee service within the School of Dentistry.

Function/Duties of Position

The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university¿s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.

This position reports to (supervisor): Yota Stathopoulou, D.D.S., D.M.D., Ph.D., Division Head

The duties of this position include: Participation in the education of residents and dental students, with opportunity for scholarly and service activity. Specific responsibilities will focus on clinical and didactic teaching and student assessment at the graduate and predoctoral level; opportunity exists for participation in research, Departmental strategic planning activities and committee service within the School of Dentistry.

Required Qualifications

• D.D.S. or D.M.D. from a CODA accredited school or equivalent
• Completion of advanced education program in Periodontics from a CODA accredited program
• Board Certification in Periodontics highly desired
• Ability to obtain Oregon Dental License and sedation certification
• BLS from AHA required. New hires will be enrolled in an OHSU training course and will be required to complete the course during the onboarding process
• Experience in teaching, research, service, patient care, and academic management, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills are preferred
