Assistant Professor of Physics

The Department of Physics at the University of Michigan invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Physics to begin August 25, 2027, at the level of Assistant Professor. The search is open to all subfields of physics. We encourage applications from candidates who enhance our current research directions and/or bring expertise in emergent fields, such as AI and the physics of learning. Information about our research areas can be found at http://lsa.umich.edu/physics/. Candidates are required to have a doctoral degree in physics or a closely related field. The successful candidate is expected to establish an independent, externally funded research program and to contribute effectively to the Department's undergraduate and graduate teaching missions.

The research and teaching statements should not exceed three pages each. Applicants should also arrange for 3-5 letters of reference to be submitted by the application deadline.
