Job summary

Redner's Markets, Inc. is seeking a Produce Department lead to direct all functions in the Produce area when the Produce Manager is away. This non-exempt, hourly position supports merchandising plans, product ordering, and department operations in a Maryland store.

Responsibilities include enforcing health regulations, maintaining product quality, assisting with inventory and displays, and delivering excellent customer service daily. Stand and lift requirements apply as part of the role.

Qualifications

• Basic math skills for counting and matching invoices.
• Strong communication for customer service.
• Dexterity for trimming and packaging produce.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
• Stamina to perform duties throughout a scheduled shift.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise all Produce Department functions in the absence of the Produce Manager.
• Assist with merchandising plans for the department, including floral and cut fruit/veg.
• Assist with ordering in the Produce Department when needed or in absence of the Produce Manager.
• Follow policies for ordering, receiving, pricing, and stocking to ensure accuracy and rotation.
• Participate in shrink control by culling cases multiple times per day.
• Follow planned cleaning and preventive maintenance on cases, coolers, and other equipment.
• Observe state, local, and federal health and weights and measures laws.
• Monitor product quality and freshness at all times.
• Greet customers and provide prompt, courteous service.
• Abide by all company policies as stated in the Employee Handbook.
• Assist with unloading and storing merchandise.
• Monitor inventory of supplies and notify Produce Manager when orders are needed.
• Fill and cull racks and displays daily.

COMPENSATION:
$15 - $18 per hour

JOB SUMMARY:

To direct and supervise all functions of the Produce Department in the absence of the Produce Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. 1)Responsible for overall operation of the Produce Department in the absence of the Produce Manager as outlined in the “Produce Manager” job description.
2. 2)Assist Produce Manager with merchandising plans for the department including floral and cut fruit/veg.
3. 3)Assist with the ordering of the entire line of products in the Produce Department as needed or in the absence of the Produce Manager.
4. 4)Follow policies regarding ordering, receiving, pricing, and stocking to ensure accuracy and product rotation.
5. 5)Participate in shrink control by culling cases multiple times per day.
6. 6)Follow planned program for cleaning and preventive maintenance on cases, coolers, and other refrigerated equipment.
7. 7)Observe all state, local, and federal health and weights and measures laws.
8. 8)Monitor product quality and freshness at all times.
9. 9)Greet customers and provide prompt and courteous service.
10. 10)Abide by all company policies as stated in the Employee Handbook.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. 1)Assist with unloading and storing of merchandise.
2. 2)Monitor inventory of supplies and product. Notify Produce Manager when orders are needed.
3. 3)Filling and culling of racks and displays on a daily basis.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1. 1)Basic math skills and the ability to accurately count product and match against invoices.
2. 2)Must have strong communications for providing customer service.
3. 3)Must have dexterity of hands to enable trimming and packaging of produce.
4. 4)Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds up to fifty percent (50%) of the time.
5. 5)Must be able to stand upright for the majority of your scheduled work shift.
