Job summary

Albertsons Companies is seeking an Assistant Produce Department Manager in a fast-paced retail environment. You will help oversee the Produce Department's daily operations, ensuring the highest standards of freshness, quality, and customer service while driving sales through effective merchandising and inventory control.

You will lead and coach a team of associates, execute planograms and seasonal displays, monitor stock rotation, and uphold food safety and sanitation standards.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a retail Produce or Grocery team.
• Strong customer-service focus with attention to freshness and quality.
• Ability to train and develop associates and manage performance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily Produce Department operations with emphasis on freshness, quality, and customer service.
• Lead and coach associates; ensure staff are knowledgeable and engaged.
• Execute corporate merchandising programs, planograms, seasonal sets, and promotional displays.
• Maintain attractive produce displays; manage rotation and freshness of stock; remove unsellables as needed.
• Assist with ordering, receiving, inspection, and adherence to food safety standards.
• Support inventory controls, shrink reduction efforts, and labor scheduling.

Main Responsibilities

• Help oversee daily operations of the Produce Department with a focus on freshness, quality, and customer service
• Deliver knowledgeable, friendly service and ensure associates demonstrate strong product knowledge
• Assist with executing corporate merchandising programs, planograms, seasonal sets, and promotional displays
• Maintain full, fresh, clean, and visually appealing produce displays at all times
• Assist with managing product rotation, remove damaged or unsellable items, and maintain freshness standards
• Assist with ordering, receiving, inspection, and store product following food safety and rotation guidelines
• Help with managing shrink through inventory controls, root‑cause identification, and waste‑reduction strategies
• Assist with building and managing labor schedules aligned with business needs
• Assist with training, coaching, and developing produce associates while maintaining a positive team environment
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, safety, and company operational standards
• Perform Product Department duties as needed and assume responsibility for department operations in the absence of the Produce Manager
