Responsibilities

• Assist the Produce Manager in managing and merchandising the department for maximum productivity and profit.
• Manage ordering, inventory controls, product quality, and supervise the Produce team.
• Coordinate merchandising and sales through planning, direction, goal setting, communication, and teamwork.
• Maintain freshness standards throughout the department by following proper receiving, processing, packaging, pricing, signage, displaying, and rotation of a complete variety of items.
• Lead a team that brainstorms to deliver the finest quality of product, highest level of service, and the greatest customer experience.
• Assist in hiring, teaching, training, and developing the Produce team.
• Unload and sort store deliveries, operate, and maintain produce equipment.
• Ensure execution of all company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and validate that all Produce team members follow these procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age with basic knowledge of math, weights and measures.
• Dependable and reliable, able to work a flexible schedule that changes, including night, weekends, and holidays.
• Outgoing and friendly demeanor, positive attitude, and ability to interact with customers.
• Good communication skills, ability to take direction and participate in a team environment.
• Perform general housekeeping in the department; clean and sanitize work area (tables, floor, walls, cases, cooler, freezer, etc.).
• Adhere to all safety, health, weights, and measures regulations including COOP and maintain a Food Handlers permit.
• Perform physical requirements: standing, walking, bending, climbing throughout the workday and lift, stack and maneuver heavy objects up to 50 lbs, from 4” to 72”, for distances up to 3 feet for 10–50 hours without mechanical assistance.
• Use a pallet jack to move pallets up to 20 feet, requiring a force of up to 85 pounds for up to 5 hours.
