Job summary

APM Terminals Elizabeth is hiring an Assistant Procurement Manager to lead end‑to‑end procurement for services, supplies, inventory, and equipment at the Elizabeth, NJ terminal. You’ll collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Finance, HSSE, and Supply Chain to forecast spend and align strategic procurement initiatives.

The role requires 3–5 years in procurement/supply chain within logistics or terminal environments, plus strong analytical and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Support end-to-end procurement activities for services, supplies, inventory, and equipment, ensuring timely and cost-effective purchasing for the terminal.
• Assist with sourcing and tendering activities, including RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, bid evaluations, supplier selection, and contract negotiations.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Finance, HSSE, and Supply Chain teams to forecast spend and align initiatives.
• Develop and maintain procurement analytics, including spend reporting, category analysis, and vendor performance tracking.
• Support supplier relationship management, onboarding, contract compliance monitoring, and performance evaluation.
• Partner with Accounts Payable to ensure accurate transaction processing and resolve invoicing issues.
• Support governance, responsible procurement, risk management, digital initiatives, reporting, and special projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Support end-to-end procurement activities for services, supplies, inventory, and equipment, ensuring timely and cost-effective purchasing for the terminal.
• Assist with sourcing and tendering activities, including RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, bid evaluations, supplier selection, and contract negotiations.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Finance, HSSE, and Supply Chain teams to understand demand, forecast spend, and align procurement initiatives with business priorities.
• Develop and maintain procurement analytics, including spend reporting, category analysis, vendor performance tracking, savings identification, and Total Cost of Ownership modelling.
• Support supplier relationship management, onboarding activities, contract compliance monitoring, and supplier performance evaluation across quality, delivery, and cost metrics.
• Partner with Accounts Payable to ensure accurate transaction processing and resolve invoicing, payment, and reconciliation issues.
• Support governance, responsible procurement, risk management, digital procurement initiatives, procurement reporting, and special projects while providing backup support to procurement leadership when required.

What We Are Looking For

• Experience with procurement lifecycle management, contract management, vendor management, and sourcing processes.
• Strong analytical capability with experience working with spend data, cost models, supplier benchmarking, market analysis, and savings initiatives.
• Familiarity with procurement systems and tools, including ERP and e‑tendering platforms, with an interest in digital and process improvement.
• Demonstrated ability to work within procurement governance frameworks, compliance requirements, ethical sourcing practices, and risk controls.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage changing priorities, and deliver results in a fast‑paced terminal and port environment.
• Eligibility to obtain or renew a Port Access Card and DHS‑approved TWIC card.

Salary: $85K - $95K

Location: Elizabeth, NJ (5 days in office)
