Job Title: Assistant Principal of Instruction
Position Hours: Full-time, occasional extended hours for events
Length of Term/Employment: 220 workdays / At-Will
Reports to: Campus Principal
Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
I. Position Mission
The Assistant Principal of Instruction (API) serves as the primary driver of academic excellence and teacher development at the campus level. The API is responsible for ensuring rigorous, high-quality instruction in every classroom through intensive coaching, data analysis, and the implementation of Jubilee's core cultural and academic values.
II. Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree (Required); Master's degree in Educational Leadership or related field (Preferred).
Certification: Valid Texas Principal Certificate (Highly Preferred); T-TESS Certification (Required within 30 days of hire).
Experience: Minimum 3 years of exemplary classroom teaching with documented student growth.
Proven experience in instructional coaching or leading professional development (Required).

III. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
1. Instructional Leadership & Teacher Development
- Observation & Feedback: Conduct weekly "Get Better Faster" style observation cycles for a designated cohort of teachers, providing bite-sized, actionable feedback to improve instructional practice.
- Professional Learning Communities (PLCs): Lead high-impact PLCs focused on lesson internalizations, student work analysis, and data-driven aggressive monitoring techniques.
- Curriculum Alignment: Ensure all teachers are implementing the district’s Tier 1 curriculum with fidelity and rigor.
- Assessment Management: Lead the analysis of formative and summative assessment data (STAAR, MAP, interim assessments) to identify trends and gaps.
- Action Planning: Facilitate "Data Meetings" where teachers create 2-4 week action plans to re-teach standards based on student performance data.
3. Campus Culture & Student Management
- Cultural Excellence: Embody and enforce Jubilee's Lasting Leadership Values (LLV) and Determined Destiny Culture (DDC) to maintain a joyful, high-expectations environment.
- Restorative Discipline: Manage student behavior through a lens of restorative practices and character development, ensuring a safe and orderly learning environment.
- Parent Engagement: Partner with families to address academic and behavioral concerns, fostering a strong home-to-school connection.
4. Operations & Compliance
- T-TESS Evaluation: Serve as a primary appraiser for assigned staff, ensuring compliance with state and district evaluation timelines.
- Testing Coordinator: (If assigned) Oversee the logistics and security of high-stakes state testing (STAAR/TELPAS).
- Daily Operations: Supervise transitions, arrival/dismissal, and cafeteria duties to ensure campus safety.

- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with students, parents, staff, and community members; ability to interpret and convey complex testing procedures.
- Data Analysis: Ability to analyze and interpret student performance, behavior, attendance, and assessment data to inform interventions and planning.
- Organizational Skills: Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and complex situations effectively, especially high-stakes testing logistics.
- Relationship Building: Exceptional interpersonal skills to build rapport, trust, and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Conflict Resolution: Skilled in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
- Technology Proficiency: Competency in using relevant digital tools and platforms for record-keeping and communication.
- Bilingualism (Preferred): Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish is highly desirable.

VII. Working Conditions
Mental/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
- Maintain emotional composure and professionalism under stress.
- Frequent and prolonged standing, walking, and active supervision.
- Occasional lifting and handling of school materials or equipment (up to 25 pounds).
- Extended hours may be required during peak seasons or for evening/weekend events, especially during testing windows.
- Ability to work in various indoor and outdoor school environments.
VIII. Other Requirements
- Adhere to Jubilee Academies' staff dress code and all organizational policies and procedures.
- Maintain professional and collaborative working relationships across campus and district teams.
- Stay current with best practices in education, student culture, behavior management, and relevant legal updates, including all changes to state and federal assessment regulations.
- Submit all required reports and documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
