Employment Type: Part-time initially, with the potential to increase to full-time based on enrollment, staffing needs, and budget approval.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Pay Rate: starting at $22.00 per hour depending on education and experience.

Guardian Angels Catholic Preschool is a faith-based early childhood education program serving children ages 2 through Kindergarten. Our preschool provides learning experiences in both English and Spanish, helping children develop language skills while fostering an appreciation for different cultures. Assistant Preschool Director Responsibilities

• The Assistant Preschool Director will work alongside the Preschool Director to support daily operations, staff supervision, classroom coverage, curriculum implementation, parent communication, enrollment activities, and licensing compliance.
• The individual should be comfortable assisting in classrooms, mentoring staff, and supporting the daily needs of the preschool.

Hours

• Applicants must have open availability Monday through Friday between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Actual work hours and scheduled shifts will vary based on the operational needs of the preschool.
• Employees should be available for rotating opening, mid-day, and closing shifts as assigned. Schedules will be communicated in accordance with applicable employment laws and diocesan policies.
• Additional hours and full-time employment are not guaranteed and will depend on enrollment, staffing requirements, and approved funding.

Religious Qualifications

• Active, practicing Roman Catholic
• Respects and understands a Catholic school philosophy

Professional Qualifications

• Must meet applicable California licensing requirements for assigned classroom and administrative responsibilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a related field preferred, but not required.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
• Catechist Certification or willingness to obtain certification in accordance with diocesan requirements.
• Experience working with children ages 2 through Kindergarten preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to support the Catholic mission and values of our preschool.

Requirements upon hire

• CPR and First Aid Certification
• Proof of immunizations
• Proof of completed Mandated Reporter training for Child Care Providers
• Cleared TB test to work in Licensed Child Care Facility

Physical Requirements

• Spend the majority of the day standing in the classroom. While standing the Assistant Preschool Director will frequently hold objects they are working with or demonstrating
• Sit on an occasional basis when developing lesson plans, grading, etc.
• Walk through the classroom and be able to maneuver in tight spaces between desks. Walk on both even and uneven surfaces.
• Deal with students while kneeling or squatting, stooping, or bending.
• Reach at, below, or above shoulder height with the dominant upper extremity; may require trunk or neck rotation to look back at the class.
• Assist in moving children's desks and chairs to change the layout of the classroom to influence the learning situation. It is occasionally necessary to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 25 pounds from the office to classrooms.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to be inside the classroom. The employee is required to be mobile to, from, and within the classroom and preschool environment, as well as maneuver throughout the school facility to attend meetings, trainings, and other work-related events. The employee may be required to conduct trips to, from, and within various city and county-wide locations to attend trainings or workshops.
