Job summary

The Goddard School of Rochester in Rochester, MI is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support the Lead Teacher in creating engaging programs and a safe, stimulating classroom. You’ll join a collaborative team and help nurture growth, energy, and enthusiasm in young learners.

Requirements include a high school diploma and experience with young children; an associate or bachelor's in Early Childhood Education is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Experience in licensed childcare or preschool setting.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and pass background checks.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans.
• Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development through active engagement and positive interactions.
• Prepare classroom materials and maintain a safe, inviting learning environment.
• Supervise and provide individualized support to children and foster belonging.
• Communicate with families about child progress and daily activities.
• Follow health, safety and licensing guidelines to ensure a secure environment.
• Support daily care routines and tasks to promote a nurturing learning atmosphere.

Assistant Teacher Key Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's in Early Childhood Education preferred
• Previous experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or preschool setting
• Shows empathy and compassion for young children
• Works productively without supervision
• Basic understanding of child development
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children
• Must pass required state background checks and meet state minimum education, experience and credential requirements
