Job Summary

The Assistant Plant Manager oversees production and operations in a high-volume automotive assembly facility. This role ensures that daily production targets are met safely, efficiently, and to quality standards, while supporting continuous improvement and fostering a positive work environment.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Oversee all operational launch activities.
  • Manage day-to-day production and operations on the plant floor to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals.
  • Lead and develop Operations Manager, Production Supervisors and production teams to meet operational KPIs.
  • Monitor production schedules, adjust resources as needed, and ensure on-time delivery of customer orders.
  • Drive operational excellence through process improvements, problem solving, and adherence to lean manufacturing principles.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, quality, engineering, and logistics teams to resolve issues and improve overall performance.
  • Enforce safety and environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Assist the Plant Manager with planning, budgeting, and strategic initiatives.
  • Drive implementation of lean manufacturing utilizing required operating procedures, standardized work instructions, and job safety analysis.
  • Develop, drive and support plant activities towards maintaining IATF 16949/ISO14001 compliance and achieving customer awards and Quality registrations.
  • Maintain high standards in plant layout applying 5S and PFEP.
  • Ensures plant adheres to all Company policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Education And Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in operations, Engineering, Business, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing, preferably automotive assembly.
Travel
  • Travel Required: minimal
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes of the automotive industry.
  • Knowledgeable in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma process improvements.
  • Vision and ability to translate progressive operating techniques into applications and results.
  • Action-oriented and innovative in leading the manufacturing operations.
  • Proven leadership ability and utilization of teamwork.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to interface with and motivate all levels of team members.
  • Ability to mentor and teach team members effective problem-solving methods for related plant and customer problems/issues.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
