Job summary

Publix Pharmacy in Georgia seeks an Assistant Pharmacy Manager to lead a patient-centric team, drive clinical initiatives and ensure efficient operations. You’ll champion immunizations, MTM and pharmacist-led services while mentoring staff and maintaining strong inventory controls.

You will manage scheduling, optimize workflows, and collaborate with management to achieve department goals, while staying compliant with regulatory and company standards.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and a graduate of a school of pharmacy.
• Must hold an unrestricted state pharmacist license.
• No active suspensions or restrictions related to health insurance program participation.
• No unacceptable drug test result within the last three years.

Responsibilities

• Be dedicated to the overall pharmacy department success, by executing strategy, motivating staff as pharmacist-on-duty, setting priorities and advancing staff development.
• Provide best-in-class pharmacy service through counseling, building relationships and offering pharmacist-led clinical services.
• Mentor and develop the pharmacy team, providing opportunities and challenging assignments.
• Inspire the team to achieve department goals, manage programs and processes, and drive innovation.
• Manage department performance including scheduling and task assignment to meet operational needs.
• Understand metrics related to sales and service, and use best practices in the absence of the pharmacist in charge.
• Be an expert on the pharmacy technology system and routine/complex prescription processing.
• Oversee medication on-hand inventory and educate staff on inventory practices, including auto-refill and Sync Your Refills.
• Advance clinical initiatives such as MTM and immunizations and participate in local health events.
• Maintain a flexible work-week schedule to meet customer needs and assist in other duties as assigned.

As an Assistant Pharmacy Manager, you will:

• Be dedicated to the overall pharmacy department success, by executing strategy, motivating and inspiring staff as the pharmacist-on-duty, setting priorities to maximize contribution, seeking feedback and developmental opportunities for advancement while in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager
• Provide best-in-class pharmacy service to patients, empower staff in providing value and service through counseling, building personalized relationships, promoting customer loyalty, offering pharmacist led clinical services to improve health and wellness and preventative care through services available at Publix
• Mentor, train and develop a high functioning pharmacy team, providing developmental opportunities and challenging assignments to all staff, to grow and develop, tailoring to meet each one’s needs
• Inspire your team to do the right thing, gaining buy in, and empowering the team to be accountable for the goals of the pharmacy department, and serve as a champion for executing programs and processes, creating enthusiasm for innovation
• Manage department performance including scheduling and assigning tasks to ensure complex operational activities are met in a timely and efficient manner
• Ensure continuous improvement and maintain a competitive advantage by understanding metrics as they relate to sales and service in your pharmacy, using best practices and making sound business decisions in the absence of the pharmacist in charge
• Be regarded as an expert on the pharmacy technology system and how it is used for both routine and complex prescription processing
• Excel in managing medication on-hand inventory and regarded as an expert in pharmacy inventory operations, mentor others on best practices to maximize sales, minimize shrink while meeting customers’ needs while using programs such as auto refill and Sync Your Refills
• Proactively advance pharmacy clinical initiatives including Medication Therapy Management (MTM) and immunizations
• Participate locally as a community pharmacist in events that will meet the unique health and preventative care needs within the local area, such as health screenings
• Maintain a flexible work-week schedule in order to meet the needs of our customers, and
• Assist in all other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be a graduate of a school of pharmacy
• Must have and maintain an unrestricted state pharmacist license
• Must not have active suspensions, sanctions, or other restrictions related to participation in a private, federal, or state health insurance program upon hire and thereafter and
• Must not have received an unacceptable result on a company-sponsored drug test within the last three years

Preferred Qualifications

• Be an immunizing pharmacist meeting the requirements as established by the state (or be scheduled to become an immunizer in the next set of training classes)
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to interpret and understand instructions and solve problems
• Numerical and financial aptitude and
• Knowledge of retail merchandising and inventory control
