Job description

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at High Point University invites applications for a full‑time Assistant or Associate Professor of Actuarial Science and Statistics, with an expected start date of August 2026. This position is a 9‑month, non‑tenure track appointment, eligible for renewable multi‑year contracts and eventual promotion to Associate Professor or Professor rank.

Qualifications
  • Earned PhD or doctorate in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated promise of excellence in teaching and a record of scholarly achievement.
  • Collaborative mindset and the ability to work with highly motivated undergraduate students.
  • Potential to establish industry partnerships for internship opportunities for Actuarial Science students.
Responsibilities
  • Teach 24 contact hours (typically six 4‑credit courses) annually.
  • Undertake professional development and produce scholarly research.
  • Advise students academically.
  • Assist with curriculum development and department assessment.
  • Participate in university and department recruiting efforts.
  • Serve on department, school, and university meetings and committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair and/or Dean.
