Job summary

Closet Factory Cleveland is seeking an organized Assistant Operations Manager to support daily manufacturing and installation operations. You will work closely with the Operations Manager, lead the production floor and installation teams, and demonstrate hands-on leadership to keep projects on time and to the highest quality standards.

Closet Factory is seeking an organized, hands-on Assistant Operations Manager to

support our Operations & Installation Manager in leading daily manufacturing and

installation operations.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, coordinating people,

improving processes, and ensuring every customer project is completed on time and to

the highest quality standards.

As the Assistant Operations Manager, you will help execute the systems developed by

our Operations Manager while serving as the daily operational leader for the production

floor and installation teams. You will work hands on as needed in our manufacturing

operation to demonstrate mastery and leadership.

Position Summary

The Assistant Operations Manager supports the daily execution of manufacturing,

quality assurance, and customer service.

Working closely with the Operations & Installation Manager, this position ensures that

projects move efficiently from engineering through manufacturing and installation while

maintaining exceptional quality and customer satisfaction.

This position is highly visible and requires someone who enjoys leading by example and

working closely with production employees, installers, designers, sales staff, and

customers.

Key Responsibilities
On-Time Project Completion
  • Monitor manufacturing progress and identify scheduling conflicts.
  • Assist in planning and implementation of our parts labeling program.
  • Ensure every job is customer ready at least two business days before installation.
  • Verify all job carts are complete, labeled, and organized.
  • Confirm all purchased materials and special-order items are in house at least 4 days before installation.
  • Assist in balancing installer workloads and daily schedules.
Installation Quality & Defect Prevention
  • Inspect completed projects before shipment.
  • Identify manufacturing issues before jobs leave the facility.
  • Assist with service issue investigations.
  • Track recurring production or installation problems and recommend improvements.
  • Conduct post-installation follow-up when needed.
Material Cost Control
  • Monitor inventory levels.
  • Assist purchasing with material planning.
  • Help reduce waste and unnecessary purchasing.
  • Verify material usage aligns with project requirements.
  • Implement a scrap management program.
  • Identify opportunities for improved efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate production records.
  • Update proprietary production management software.
  • Review cut list completion reports.
  • Maintain service logs and documentation.
  • Assist with documenting standard operating procedures.
Customer Experience
  • Coordinate communication between production, installers, and office staff.
  • Ensure installers leave each job site clean and professional.
  • Support scheduling changes when customer needs arise.
  • Promote exceptional customer service throughout every project.
  • Provide daily support and direction to production employees.
  • Reinforce company policies and operating procedures.
  • Assist with cross-training employees across multiple production areas.
  • Conduct daily production huddles when needed.
  • Support workplace safety initiatives.
  • Maintain employee training documentation.
  • Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment.
Fleet & Facility Management
  • Monitor vehicle cleanliness and readiness.
  • Schedule routine vehicle maintenance.
  • Oversee shop organization and housekeeping.
  • Ensure equipment inspections are completed.
  • Help maintain safety equipment, PPE supplies, first aid stations, eyewash stations, and required documentation.
Production Support

Assist with daily operations involving:

  • CNC Router production
  • Shipping preparation
  • Inventory organization
  • Review cut list status.
  • Coordinate with designers and engineering staff on production questions.
  • Identify missing information before manufacturing begins.
  • Assist with design reviews for complex projects.
  • Support communication between Sales, Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Installation teams.

Qualifications
  • 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing, cabinet production, woodworking, construction, logistics, or operations
  • Previous supervisory or team lead experience preferred
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and production management software
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction
  • Experience with CNC manufacturing, custom cabinetry, production scheduling, inventory management, or installation coordination is highly desirable.
