Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital in Vero Beach, FL seeks an Assistant Nurse Manager to lead the 5S Orthopaedics and 5N Oncology units, guiding clinical operations, staff development and patient care standards.

You will supervise caregivers, coordinate admissions, discharges and transfers, participate in quality improvement, and assume Nurse Manager responsibilities in absence, while pursuing professional ladder opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • BSN degree preferred.
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or Red Cross.
  • ONS Chemo/Bio course within two years of hire if chemo is administered.
  • Two years of recent clinical nursing experience.
  • Strong demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate unit clinical operations.
  • Provide effective patient care to all ages on assigned shifts.
  • Facilitate communication among unit caregivers and other departments.
  • Ensure continuity of patient care information between shifts.
  • Coordinate admissions, discharges, transfers and other operational issues.
  • Review major operational patient care issues with Nurse Managers.
  • Provide evaluations of caregivers and manage performance issues.
  • Interview, select and orient new caregivers.
  • Support quality improvement projects and research initiatives.
  • Orient new personnel and support education programs.
  • Assume Nurse Manager responsibilities in absence.

Indian River Hospital is looking to add an Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) to the team who will support both the 5S Orthopaedics Unit and 5N Oncology Unit. In this role, you will help patients feel comfortable, at ease and supported while receiving treatment. With an emphasis on professional development and success, you will also encourage caregivers to enhance their skills and the patient experience through improvement initiatives and incentives. A caregiver in this position works days from 6:45AM - 7:15PM, including rotating weekends and holidays.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
  • Supervise and coordinate unit clinical operations.
  • Provide effective and efficient patient care to all ages on assigned shifts or as otherwise designated.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among unit caregivers and other departments/units.
  • Ensure continuity of patient care information between shifts.
  • Coordinate patient admitting, discharges, transfers and other operational issues.
  • Review major operational patient care issues with Nurse Managers.
  • Provide ongoing clinical evaluations of caregivers, counsel caregivers on performance issues, administer initial corrective actions and monitor attendance issues.
  • Interview, select and orient new caregivers.
  • Monitor the adherence to EEO/AAP goals and guidelines.
  • Prepare work schedules to ensure adequate coverage on all shifts.
  • Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcomes, studies and research initiatives.
  • Assist in orienting new personnel, continuing education and in-service educational programs.
  • Assume responsibilities of the Nurse Manager in their absence.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • ONS Chemo/Bio course completed within two years of hire if employed on units where chemo is administered
  • Two years of recent clinical nursing experience
  • Strong demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills
Physical Requirements:
  • Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
