Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital in Canton is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager for the Operating Room. You will provide clinical supervision and coordinate OR operations under the Nurse Manager.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Two years of recent clinical nursing experience in an OR
• BLS Certification (AHA or Red Cross)
• ACLS certification if in a Critical Care area on hire or within first year

Responsibilities

• Facilitate communication and collaboration among unit caregivers and other departments/units.
• Ensure continuity of patient care information between shifts.
• Coordinate patient admissions, discharges, transfers and other operational issues.
• Review major operational patient care issues with Nurse Managers.
• Provide ongoing clinical evaluations of caregivers and counsel on performance issues.
• Interview, select and orient new caregivers.
• Supervise and participate in the daily delivery of patient care.
• Prepare work schedules to ensure adequate coverage on all shifts.
• Participate in quality improvement projects, outcomes studies and research initiatives.
• Assist in orienting new personnel and in-service educational programs.
• Other duties as assigned.

By joining theteam asan Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM), you will provide clinical supervision and coordinatethe Operating Room’soperations with other departmental disciplines, under the direction of the Nurse Manager.In this role,70% of your time will be spent at the control deskrunningthe board and communicating with all areas toensureeverythingis running on time with no delays. A caregiver in this position worksdays from 6:30AM – 5:00PM, plus on-call.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Facilitate communication and collaboration among unit caregivers and other departments/units.
• Ensure continuity of patient care information between shifts.
• Coordinate patient admitting, discharges, transfers and other operational issues.
• Review major operational patient care issues with Nurse Managers.
• Provide ongoing clinical evaluations of caregivers, counsel caregivers on performance issues, administer initial corrective actions and monitor attendance issues.
• Interview,selectand orient new caregivers.
• Supervise andparticipatein the daily delivery of patient care.
• Prepare work schedules to ensure adequate coverage on all shifts.
• Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcomes,studiesand research initiatives.
• Assistin orienting new personnel, continuingeducationand in-service educational programs.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing(BSN)
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Two years of recent clinical nursing experiencein an OR
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• If in a Critical Care area, an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) must be presented upon hire or within first year of employment
• Strongdemonstratedclinical knowledge and skills; good oral, written and interpersonal skills, strong analytical and organization skills

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) certification – if you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it within one year of hire
• Previousmanagement experience

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
• Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
• Requires some exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
