The Assistant Nurse Manager provides clinical and administrative leadership support for a defined patient care area(s). Responsibilities include fostering a patient centered professional work environment through the implementation of the Theory of Human Caring, the nursing process, staff development and collaborative team interactions for the enhancement of the quality of patient care. Partners with the Nurse Manager to achieve goals to improve quality of care.

Patient care areas for this role includes: House Operations, Piedmont Joint Camp, Observation Unit, Transitional Care Unit, Float Pool, and the Clinical Decision Unit.

The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) will be accountable for the evaluation, or clinical nursing effect in setting up a psychiatric, multidisciplinary team providing nursing aspects to the defined patient care area. The assistant nurse manager will ensure that the clinical nursing program is structured, comprehensive and effective for the patient population. They will participate in staff, other nurse manager and clinical service Team meetings and lead the nursing service faculty for improving the quality of care and patient safety. Job Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing - BSN or BS in related field (MSN preferred)

  • Ensures care is delivered with respect for patient's rights and preferences. Maintains privacy, confidentiality, and security for patients and staff.
  • Facilitates resolution of conflicts, collaborates with Service Excellence to promote service recovery, and empowers staff in decision-making through shared governance.
  • Assumes responsibility with the Nurse Manager for the planning, development, implementation, and monitoring of the budgetary process for designated area(s).
  • Ensures a biogenic environment that stimulates the ongoing professional development of staff in accordance with the principles of Shared Governance, Theory of Human Caring, and professional practice.
  • Demonstrates value for professional nursing practice including the utilization of current standards, the nursing process and patient advocacy. In collaboration with the Nurse Manager takes responsibility for continuing education, developing best practices and maintaining the highest level of patient care and staff development.
  • Ensures/provides appropriate patient care in accordance with specific patient population. Demonstrates and utilizes knowledge of the needs of the patient population specific to the defined clinical area. Maintains competency related to patient population and identifies strategies to meet related needs.
