Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager to lead a nursing unit in New Jersey. You will supervise staff, coordinate daily operations, and ensure safe, patient-centered care aligned with evidence-based guidelines.

Strong leadership and emergency nursing background are essential for delivering high-quality care. The role emphasizes collaboration with physicians and the health care team, scheduling, budgeting, and staff development.

Qualifications

• A nursing degree or diploma is required with an active NJ RN license.
• BSN in progress or commitment to completion within three years of hire.
• Minimum 3 years of recent Emergency nursing experience.
• Possible Magnet program certification within two years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care per evidence-based practices and standards of care.
• Maintain clear communication with patients, families, and the health care team.
• Ensure patient satisfaction and care experience meet Meridian Health standards.
• Administer medications and titrate with safe documentation technology.
• Foster interdisciplinary collaboration from admission to discharge.
• Oversee unit operations, scheduling, payroll, and budget needs; may take patient assignments.
• Fill in for Nurse Manager in their absence and support policies and training.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of aAssistantNurse Managerat Hackensack MeridianHealth includes:

• Delivery of nursing practices according to the evidence-based research, nursing policies, and standards of care, to provide and ensure safe and excellent delivery of individualized patient centered care.
• Ongoing communication with patients, nursing colleagues and other members of the health care team regarding patient’s status, rendered care, education and treatment plans.
• Responsible for optimal patient/guest satisfaction and care experience according to Meridian Health standards.
• Medication administration and titration utilizing the latest clinical documentation technology designed to ensure the safest delivery of medications to our patients.
• Patient and family centered care aimed at optimizing health, wellness, disease management and end of life care.
• Interdisciplinary collaboration in management of our patient’s plan of care and goals from admission to discharge to ensure safe transitioning and continuum of care.
• The Assistant Nurse Manager facilities the operations of the unit, oversees scheduling, payroll, budget needs. Flexible to accommodate the needs of the unit including but not limited to taking a patient assignment.
• S/He is responsible for all tasks delegated by the Nurse Manager including but not limited to patient assignment, disciplinary actions, education, mentoring, scheduling andbudget and all other assignments as deemed necessary and appropriate.
• The ANM is responsible for filling in for the NM in the managers’ absence, understanding scheduling, budget allocations, hospital and regulatory policies and procedures

Qualifications

• A minimum of an associate in nursing or diploma of Nursing degree
• BSN in progress and/or willing to acquire within three (3) years of hire
• NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License required
• Minimum 3 years recent Emergency nursing experience
• AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification required
• National Certification acceptable to the Magnet Recognition Program and appropriate to your current specialty (within two years of hire).
• The ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs, a strong sense of accountability for improving the lives of our patients and their caregivers, an exceptional focus on teamwork, dedication to ongoing education and the ability and passion to deliver the highest quality of care based on a strong sense of patient focus are all required
• MSN preferred
• Supervisory or charge nurse experience preferred

Starting Minimum Rate

Minimum rate of $113,817.60 Annually
