Job summary

MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, IL, is seeking a registered nurse for the night shift. The role participates in shared governance, supports practice-related decision making, and helps deliver compassionate patient care in a diverse community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
  • 3–5 years of RN experience; 5–7 years preferred.
  • Current RN license in Illinois.

Responsibilities

  • Operationalize the unit's mission and goals in alignment with approved plans.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate annual department goals.
  • Support quality improvement activities and safety initiatives (Joint Commission, NDNQI).
  • Participate in bi-annual policy reviews to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain current professional nursing standards for patient populations.
  • Engage in unit quality indicators and participate in safety initiatives.
  • Lead or participate in unit-based research or quality projects.
  • Use the patient safety communication system to identify improvements.
  • Demonstrate improvement in patient care quality and safety through interdisciplinary processes.

Position Description

MacNeal nurses participate in shared governance and are active in practice-related decision making that influence their daily work. Our nurses are empowered to make meaningful changes to process and policy to positively impact patient outcomes and their work environment.   • Operationalize the organization's mission, philosophy, operating principles, model of care, and strategic plans/goals.
  • Participates in developing, implementing and evaluating the annual department goals and objectives in alignment with the mission, philosophy, operating principles, model of care, and strategic plans/goals.
  • Ensure staff knowledge and participation in quality improvement activities, including but not limited to The Joint Commission's core measure projects, National Patient Safety Goals initiatives, and NDNQI goals; evidenced-based projects and research activities.
  • Participates in the bi-annual review of all unit-specific polices/procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and evidenced based practice.
  • Communicates current professional nursing standard that reflect standards for patient specific populations.
  • Participates in house-wide quality and safety indicators and evidenced-based projects, and establishes unit specific quality indicators.
  • Establishes unit based evidenced-based projects/research projects as appropriate.
  • Utilize the patient safety communication system, identify opportunities for improvement and lead/participate in initiatives to improve quality and safety.
  • Demonstrates improvement in the quality and safety of patient care through an interdisciplinary unit based committee/mechanism, which monitors the effectiveness/appropriateness and outcomes of patient care.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
  • 3-5 years of previous RN experience; 5-7 years of previous RN experience preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Illinois
  • CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
  • Other: Specialty certification in a clinical or functional area of nursing granted by a national nursing organization is preferred.
