Job summary

Ardent Mills in Mount Pocono, PA is seeking an Assistant Miller to ensure that products meet customer specifications at the end of the milling process. You will perform sanitation duties and IPM tasks, start the cleaning house side of the mill, support the shift miller, and ensure wheat and flour meet required specifications while following Food Safety Policies and GMPs.

To succeed, you must be willing to learn, adapt, and cross-train in at least one other position, work off-shifts and weekends,

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in an industrial environment (milling, agricultural, food production, or equivalent).
  • Basic skills with computer applications, to include Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Support specific phases of the milling and wheat cleaning operations as assigned by supervisor including sanitation duties.
  • Develop mechanical ability to assist in all aspects of preventative checks and mill repairs.
  • Accurately follow the schedule and specifications for wheat blending as well as providing feedback.
  • Learn and proficiently perform testing and monitoring of product through the milling and cleaning processes.
  • Maintain sanitation standards, in accordance with policies, to provide good food safety practices in the work environment and food process.
  • Maintain all tools/equipment and execute processes in the 5S, Pristine AMPS standards using process tools such as Centerline and 5S.
  • Maintain documentation of a variety of activities and inventories through computer or paper systems.
  • Communicate effectively with management, team members and customers.

As an Assistant Miller, you will be responsible for ensuring that Ardent Mills products meet customer requirements at the end of the milling process. You will be responsible for completing sanitation duties in the facility and IPM tasks. From the milling perspective you will start running the cleaning house side of the mill, supporting the shift miller, and ensuring all wheat and flour meets the required specifications while following all Food Safety Policies and GMPs. You will utilize milling knowledge with the ability to set up machinery to maximize results.

Essential skills and experiences:

High School diploma orGEDequivalent.

Minimum of 1years’ experience in an industrial environment (milling, agricultural, food production, or equivalent).

Basic skills with computer applications, to include Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn and use new computer programs.

Good to have:

2+years’ experience in an industrial environment (milling, agricultural, food production, or equivalent).

Demonstrated mechanical understanding and intermediate troubleshooting ability.

Understanding of safety behaviors within production environment.

Physical requirements and working conditions (with or without reasonable accommodation):

Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as is required by the operating areas (i.e. safety glasses, protective footwear, hard hat, hearing protection, hands gloves and, at required times, a face respirator)

Ability to work a rotating schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.

Ability to work a machine-paced continuous process that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with conditions which include:

Hot/Cold temperatures (inclement weather)

Dusty environment(to include Wheat/Gluten allergens)

Frequent moving/vibration/ or other motion of equipment/processes

Ability to perform work safely may require:

Frequently standing, walking, rotating,bending/stooping, twisting, crouching, kneeling, balancing and reachingor lifting at varying heights and levels.

Working in confined spaces or elevated places.

Must be willing to work extended hours during scheduled and unscheduled repair days, maintenance shutdowns, and other operational events to support plant requirements.

Have willingnessfortraining and development in Milling Practices and Programs (to include other department operations).

Must be authorized to work in the United states without sponsorship now and in the future.

Competitive Compensation:

We provide market-driven base pay, based on skills, abilities, and level of experiences. Our salary ranges are broad, and individual salary will be market competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of skills and level of experience. The starting range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00, with additional earning potential possible commensurate with experience. Additionally, we believe that our team members are the reason for our success and all team members are incentive eligible with a target based on contribution, company performance, and individual results achieved. While the specific bonus plan and target amount will be determined based on the role and breadth of contributions, the targeted bonus plan and targeted percentage amount for this role is Bonus - OIP, 5% Annual.
