  • Lead. Innovate. Transform Student Health Across New York City.

Are you a physician leader passionate about improving the health and well-being of children and adolescents? Join the Montefiore School Health Program (MSHP)—the nation's largest and most comprehensive network of school-based health centers—serving nearly 40,000 students throughout the Bronx and expanding into lower Westchester County.

Why This Role?

As Assistant Medical Director, you'll play a key leadership role in advancing healthcare delivery across a nationally recognized school health program that removes barriers to care and brings comprehensive services directly to students where they learn and thrive.

This is a unique opportunity to combine clinical practice, leadership, and population health impact while helping shape the future of school-based healthcare in one of the country's most innovative healthcare systems.

Working closely with the Medical Director and Nursing Leadership, you'll help drive:

  • Clinical excellence across the MSHP network of school-based health centers
  • Quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
  • Strategic program growth and innovation
  • Provider mentorship, engagement, and professional development
  • Efforts to improve health equity and healthcare access for underserved communities

This 0.5 FTE leadership position is paired with 0.5 FTE direct patient care, offering the best of both worlds: meaningful administrative leadership while maintaining clinical practice and patient relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Provide physician leadership for one of the nation's most respected school health programs
  • Partner with interdisciplinary leaders to enhance quality, outcomes, and patient experience
  • Support clinical operations and provider development across the MSHP network
  • Champion innovative approaches to adolescent and pediatric healthcare delivery
  • Help shape health equity initiatives that positively impact thousands of students and families

What We're Looking For

We are seeking a physician leader who is:

  • Passionate about child and adolescent health
  • Experienced in balancing clinical excellence with operational leadership
  • Skilled in problem-solving, change management, and process improvement
  • An effective communicator and collaborative team builder
  • A creative and strategic thinker who embraces innovation
  • Committed to mentoring colleagues and developing future healthcare leaders
