Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health Behavioral Services (BILHBS) is seeking an Assistant Medical Director to lead medical operations and clinical quality across CBHC services in Boston and surrounding areas. The role partners with the Ambulatory Medical Director to shape care models and strategic delivery.

Responsibilities include clinical supervision of psychiatrists, NPs, nurses, and medical assistants; on-call coverage; timely documentation; and representing BILHBS in state and local meetings.

Qualifications

• MD with active MA license, DEA registration, and Board Certification in Adult and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
• CBHC settings experience preferred.
• Strong skills in psychiatric risk assessment and clinical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee medical staff, refine care models, align services with strategic vision with Ambulatory Medical Director.
• Provide clinical supervision to Psychiatrists, NPs, Nurses and Medical Assistants; ongoing staff consultation.
• Deliver psychopharmacology services as needed and coordinate on-call medical coverage.
• Complete progress notes and documentation within 48 hours.
• Represent BILHBS at state and local meetings, including MassHealth and Commonwealth leadership.
• Ensure adherence to HIPAA, SAMHSA, CARF, DMH, DPH, BSAS and state regulations.

Join Beth Israel Lahey Health Behavioral Services (BILHBS) as the Assistant Medical Director and lead medical operations and clinical quality across all Community Behavioral Health Center (CBHC) services, including Ambulatory Clinic, Urgent Care, Mobile Crisis Intervention (MCI), and Community Crisis Stabilization (CCS).

Key Responsibilities

• Clinical Operations: Oversee medical staff, refine models of care, and align services with strategic vision alongside the Ambulatory Medical Director.
• Team Leadership: Provide clinical supervision to Psychiatrists, NPs, Nurses, and Medical Assistants. Offer ongoing staff consultation and academic enrichment (lectures/workshops).
• Direct Care & On-Call: Deliver psychopharmacology services as needed and coordinate/provide on-call medical coverage.
• Documentation: Complete progress notes and documentation within 48 hours.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Represent BILHBS at state and local meetings, including MassHealth and Commonwealth leadership.
• Compliance: Ensure adherence to HIPAA, SAMHSA, CARF, DMH, DPH, BSAS, and state regulations.

Qualifications

• Credentials: MD with active MA Physician License, DEA registration, and Board Certification in Adult and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
• Experience: Background in CBHC settings preferred.
• Key Skills: Demonstrated expertise in psychiatric risk assessment, management, and clinical documentation.

Pay Range

$350,000.00 USD - $370,000.00 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation may be determined based on several factors, that may include education, training, relevant experience, specialty, geography of work location, productivity, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. In addition to base compensation, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include productivity and quality bonuses.
