Job summary

GOEBEL FIXTURE COMPANY in Indio, CA is seeking a skilled mechanic to perform major and minor repairs on golf course maintenance equipment. You will diagnose and repair mechanical problems in gasoline and diesel engines, service motors, and grinders, and maintain preventive maintenance programs for diverse machinery.

Responsibilities include issuing purchase orders, managing parts and labor costs, and ensuring safe, compliant operations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform major and minor mechanical repairs on golf course maintenance equipment.
• Diagnose inspection, adjustment and repairs of mechanical problems/defects.
• Complete mower grinding/sharpening of reels and bed knives; service motors.
• Repair transmissions, carburetors, brakes, and hydraulic systems as needed.
• Maintain equipment maintenance and preventative maintenance programs.
• Issue purchase orders and manage material and labor costs.
• Ensure proper disposal of hazardous waste and maintain records.

Description

Under limited supervision and following Association Policies and Procedures and Manufacturers instructions performs major and minor mechanical repairs on a variety of gasoline and diesel powered equipment; assures all equipment operates at a top level of efficiency and is in working condition at all times; organizes and maintains a clean and safe service area and maintenance building. Will perform other job projects and work related projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Diagnosis inspection, adjustment and repairs mechanical problems/defects in the many types of golf course maintenance equipment.
• Completes mower grinding/sharpening of reels and bed knives.
• Performs maintenance and general overhaul of motors.
• Repairs transmissions, differentials, carburetors, distributors, fuel pumps, steering systems, starters, generators, universal joints, hydraulic systems and high pressure pumps and valves.
• Installs and adjust brakes.
• Installs batteries, tires, wiring and glass.
• Completes machining or welding work required to make fittings used in various automotive equipment.
• Occasional automotive painting or general body and fender repair work.
• Maintains equipment maintenance and preventative maintenance programs.
• Issues Purchase Orders as required.
• Maintains cost material and labor schedules for each piece of equipment.
• Assures disposal of hazardous waste or other chemicals follows governing criteria and records are maintained accordingly.
• Must wear clean uniform and maintain acceptable personal hygiene standards.
• Performs other duties and projects as requested.

Qualifications, Education, and/or Experience:

• Knowledge of the safe mechanical operation of trucks and other motorized equipment.
• Knowledge of the principles of operation and cold starting of gasoline engines.
• Knowledge of maintenance tools.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Ability to work in a team environment.

Ability to comprehend task assignments, simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
