Job summary

Albertsons Companies is seeking an Assistant Meat Manager in Dallas, TX to lead daily Meat Department operations, ensure quality and freshness, manage inventory, and support sales and customer service goals.

You will assist with hiring, training, and coaching, develop schedules, and uphold food safety standards while driving promotional initiatives and department presentation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing daily Meat Department operations.
• Ensure meat and seafood products are properly stocked, rotated, displayed, and merchandised.
• Maintain product quality, freshness, and presentation standards.
• Assist with ordering, inventory management, production planning, and shrink control.
• Ensure pricing, signage, and promotional displays are accurate and properly executed.
• Maintain department cleanliness, organization, and equipment readiness.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and create a positive shopping experience.
• Assist customers with product selection, preparation recommendations, special cuts, and special orders.
• Address customer questions and concerns promptly and professionally.
• Promote department products, seasonal offerings, and promotional programs.
• Build customer loyalty through product knowledge and service excellence.
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and coaching department associates.
• Provide daily direction and support to team members.
• Help develop schedules that support customer service and production needs.
• Monitor workflow and adjust associate assignments based on business needs.
• Foster teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
• Reinforce company policies, procedures, and customer service expectations.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety requirements.
• Monitor proper handling, cutting, preparation, packaging, labeling, storage, and rotation of products.
• Maintain clean and sanitary preparation, storage, service, and sales areas.
• Ensure associates follow proper personal hygiene and food-handling practices.
• Monitor product temperatures and freshness standards.
• Identify and address food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety concerns.
• Maintain attractive, organized, and fully stocked meat and seafood displays.
• Assist with production planning to meet customer demand while minimizing waste.
• Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering products and supplies.
• Support promotional, seasonal, and merchandising initiatives.
• Follow proper rotation and date-control procedures to maintain freshness and reduce shrink.
• Support the Meat Manager in achieving department sales, productivity, shrink, and operational goals.
• Monitor department conditions and adjust priorities based on business needs.
• Communicate staffing, product, equipment, operational, and customer concerns to appropriate leadership.
• Assume department leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Meat Manager.
• Perform additional duties as assigned based on department and store needs.

Position Purpose

The Assistant Meat Manager supports the Meat Manager in overseeing daily Meat Department operations to achieve sales, profitability, customer service, and operational goals. This position assists with team leadership, merchandising, inventory control, food safety compliance, and maintaining high standards for product quality, freshness, and department presentation.

Key Responsibilities

Department Operations

• Assist in managing daily Meat Department operations.
• Ensure meat and seafood products are properly stocked, rotated, displayed, and merchandised.
• Maintain product quality, freshness, and presentation standards.
• Assist with ordering, inventory management, production planning, and shrink control.
• Ensure pricing, signage, and promotional displays are accurate and properly executed.

Customer Service
