Job summary

Astrion seeks an Assistant Engineer to work full time aboard USAV Worthy, Kwajalein, Marshall Islands. The role supports Chief Engineer to keep all shipboard systems seaworthy, safe and compliant with standards.

The ideal candidate holds USCG STCW credentials for 2500 HP vessels or equivalent, can pass background and medical checks, and has 2 years of engineering experience. On-site maritime assignment with security requirements.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent
• Two years’ engineer experience (may substitute via Maritime Academy)
• US Coast Guard STCW credential as Assistant Engineer required

Responsibilities

• Maintains propulsion, electrical, electronic, fuel, hydraulic, sanitation and potable water systems.
• Supervises engineering watch and the engineering team.
• Determines parts, supplies and material requirements for jobs.
• Operates hand and power tools used in maritime industry.
• Oversees preventive maintenance and coordinates with Marine repair shop support.
• Ensures vessel complies with ABS Load-line and US Army standards.

Education

HS Diploma or equivalent

Two years’ engineer experience (May be substituted by Maritime Academy graduation)

US Coast Guard national and international/STCW credential as Assistant Engineer

Tools

Diesel electric propulsion experience

Caterpillar marine diesel engine experience
