Job summary

tggaccounting in Cleveland, OH is seeking an Assistant Controller – Manufacturing to lead month-end close, cost accounting, and SOX-ready controls in a private/public-ready environment. You’ll build and manage a growing accounting team, partner with operations and engineering, and help implement ERP systems as the company scales.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience including manufacturing leadership.
• 5+ years in manufacturing or cost accounting for Assistant Controller level.
• Strong standard costing, inventory, and month-end close skills.
• External audit experience; public accounting a plus.
• SOX, public-company, private equity, or M&A exposure is a strong plus.
• ERP and advanced Excel proficiency.
• U.S. person under ITAR is required; onsite in Cleveland metro.

Responsibilities

• Monthly and year-end close with GAAP financial statements.
• Manufacturing cost accounting: standard costing, WIP, inventory, and margin analysis.
• External audit relationship and year-round audit readiness.
• Internal controls and SOX readiness for public-company reporting.
• Budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning for new facilities.
• ERP selection and implementation as the company scales.
• Build and lead a growing accounting team.
• Collaborate with leadership, operations, engineering, and parent company finance.

Job Title: Assistant Controller – Manufacturing
Location: Cleveland, OH Metro (Onsite)
Pay Rate: $100,000 – $135,000 base, depending on level

OVERVIEW

The company is a Cleveland-area advanced-metals manufacturer producing high-performance lightweight alloys for energy, aerospace, and defense customers on four continents. Casting, extrusion, CNC machining, and heat treat all run under one roof, giving this lean, ISO-certified team the complexity of a far bigger operation.

Overview:

• Monthly and year-end close with accurate GAAP financials
• Manufacturing cost accounting: standard costing, WIP, inventory, and margin analysis
• External audit relationship and year-round audit readiness
• Internal controls and SOX readiness for public-company reporting
• Budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning for new facilities
• ERP selection and implementation as the company scales
• Building and leading a growing accounting team
• Close partnership with leadership, operations, engineering, and the new parent company's finance team

COMPENSATION & PERKS

• Experienced Controllers: $125K – $135K base
• Assistant Controllers: $100K – $110K base, plus a path to Controller in 1–2 years

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred
• Controller: 7+ years of progressive accounting, including manufacturing leadership
• Assistant Controller: 5+ years with manufacturing or cost accounting exposure
• Strong standard costing, inventory, and month-end close skills
• External audit experience; public accounting a plus
• SOX, public-company, private equity, or M&A exposure a strong plus
• ERP and advanced Excel proficiency
• Must be a U.S. person under ITAR (citizen, permanent resident, asylee, or refugee)
• Onsite five days a week in the Cleveland metro
• CPA strongly preferred (active or inactive)
