Job summary

Talent Edge Recruiting is seeking an Assistant Controller – Manufacturing to lead monthly closes, cost accounting, and internal controls for a Cleveland-area advanced-metals manufacturer.

The role includes budgeting, ERP-related initiatives, and collaboration with operations and engineering, with a path to growth toward a Controller position. Onsite, Mon–Fri, with exposure to public-company reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
• Controller: 7+ years of progressive accounting, including manufacturing leadership.
• Assistant Controller: 5+ years with manufacturing or cost accounting exposure.
• Strong standard costing, inventory, and month-end close skills.
• External audit experience; public accounting a plus.
• SOX, public-company, private equity, or M&A exposure a strong plus.
• ERP and advanced Excel proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Monthly and year-end close with accurate GAAP financials.
• Manufacturing cost accounting: standard costing, WIP, inventory, and margin analysis.
• External audit relationship and year-round audit readiness.
• Internal controls and SOX readiness for public-company reporting.
• Budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning for new facilities.
• ERP selection and implementation as the company scales.
• Building and leading a growing accounting team.
• Close partnership with leadership, operations, engineering, and the new parent company's finance team.

Job Title: Assistant Controller – Manufacturing

Pay Rate: $100,000 – $135,000 base, depending on level

OVERVIEW

The company is a Cleveland-area advanced-metals manufacturer producing high-performance lightweight alloys for energy, aerospace, and defense customers on four continents. Casting, extrusion, CNC machining, and heat treat all run under one roof, giving this lean, ISO-certified team the complexity of a far bigger operation.

Overview:

• Monthly and year-end close with accurate GAAP financials
• Manufacturing cost accounting: standard costing, WIP, inventory, and margin analysis
• External audit relationship and year-round audit readiness
• Internal controls and SOX readiness for public-company reporting
• Budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning for new facilities

COMPENSATION & PERKS

• Experienced Controllers: $125K – $135K base
• Assistant Controllers: $100K – $110K base, plus a path to Controller in 1–2 years

REQUIREMENTS
