Job summary

QSAC is seeking an Assistant Manager for the Wantagh residential program funded by OPWDD. This role oversees general operations and creates a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment to promote independence and personal goals for residents. Supervises staff providing care in both residential and community settings.

The salary range for this position is $41,000-$45,000 annually. This is a full-time role based in Wantagh, NY, with responsibilities across residential operations and staff

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1–2 years driving large passenger vehicle required.
  • 1–2 years’ experience supporting people with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • Minimum 1 year supervisory work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee residential operations and supervise staff.

Job Summary


QSAC is hiring an Assistant Manager for OPWDD-funded Residential Program. This essential role is responsible for general operations of QSAC Residences and will maintain a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment which fosters growth and facilitates the development of independence and the personal goals for the people receiving services. A Residential Assistant Manager supports and supervises staff as they work with the people receiving services in the residential setting and in the community.


The salary range for this position is $41,000-$45,000 annually.


Responsibilities

Residential Operations


  • Review residential binders, including general, medical and personal allowances

  • Conduct periodic fire drills for safety procedures

  • Complete and submit injury reports for individuals

  • Maintain individual’s personal allowance accounts

  • Coordinate and shop for household items and proper groceries for meal distribution

  • Maintain relationships with community and neighbors

  • Provides hands‑on assistance with Residence and individual care as part of the staff ratio

  • Create and orchestrate recreational calendars based on individual preferences

  • Maintain adequate supply of medication, and medication administration records for individuals

  • Maintain correspondence with Nurse and Medical Coordinators to ensure appropriate medical appointments are made and occur


Staff Supervision & Scheduling


  • Supervise direct care professionals (DSP) staff

  • Oversea and report to Director on any employee relations and staff disciplinary concerns

  • Schedule DSP staff to support residences

  • Ensure program goals are implemented by Residential staff


Qualifications and Work Experience


  • High school diploma/GED required

  • 1-2 years’ experience driving large passenger vehicle required

  • 1-2 years’ experience supporting people with intellectual/developmental disabilities required

  • A minimum of 1 year supervisory work experience required

  • Demonstrates patience and the ability to learn and utilize systematic procedures in order to enhance individual independence and quality of life

  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required for site visits

  • Ability to safely assist lifting individuals of various weights & 20 lb. items required

  • Clearance through state mandated Background/Fingerprint Check required
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with others and individuals served

  • Commitment to company values and adherence to policies is expected

  • Ability to run, when needed
