Job summary

Big 5 Sporting Goods Corporation is seeking an Assistant Manager Trainee for a part-time role. You will gain leadership experience while training under seasoned personnel in a fast-paced, sports-minded environment.

The program lasts 6–18 months with promotion potential to higher management, and includes a hands-on training plan, customer-service focus, and opportunities for advancement within the store team.

Qualifications

• Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic organizational and/or math skills are required.
• Detail-oriented and reliable behavior is essential.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced retail setting.
• Basic knowledge of sporting goods is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service and assist customers throughout the store.
• Answer phone calls and respond to customer inquiries.
• Recommend products and suggest add-on sales.
• Merchandising and compliance with company policies.
• Setting promotional signage and stockroom retrieval as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked sales floor.
• Assist with store opening and closing procedures.
• Training newly hired associates and directing sales staff.
• Inventory control and loss prevention enforcement.
• Adhere to all company policies and perform additional duties as assigned.

Role Overview

The Assistant Manager Trainee Part-time position is the perfect career opportunity forthe sportsand outdoor enthusiast. The qualities of our team members serve as a foundation for future growth, and our managers provide leadership and direction to the entire store team.

Our Assistant Manager Trainee Part-time gains knowledge and experience, required for promotion to higher management positions under direction of experienced personnel, by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. A well-defined training program will be provided to help you develop your way in our management structure. This entry-level position is purposely designed to be transitory and generally lasts 6-18 months before promotion to the next level. A well-defined training program will be provided to help you develop your way into a management position. Primary Duties

• Provide excellent customer service and assist customers throughout the store

Position Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Must possess basic organizational and/or applicable math skills
• Detail-oriented and reliable
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Basic knowledge of sporting goods is a plus
• Must possess High School diploma, GED, or High School Equivalency Exam
