Job summary

Universal Orlando is seeking an Assistant Manager, Sustainability to support development and management of sustainability projects across facilities. You will provide project management support, collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and external partners to ensure successful project execution.

You will help develop project scope and action plans to reduce energy consumption and advance NBCU & UDX sustainability goals; you will deliver analyses and presentations to leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in sustainability/architecture/engineering/environmental sciences required.
  • 5+ years in sustainability/LEED consulting, architecture or engineering.
  • 1+ year of project management experience in an engineering setting preferred.
  • Strong ability to read architectural and engineering drawings and specs.

Responsibilities

  • Support project management and coordination of sustainability projects from design through construction.
  • Maintain project schedules and cost estimates; provide administrative leadership.
  • Evaluate existing MEP systems to reduce energy use and expenses; conduct field surveys.
  • Develop KPIs and present business cases to frontline and executive leaders.
  • Adhere to Environmental, Health & Safety guidelines and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Assistant Manager, Sustainability is responsible for supporting the development and managing sustainability projects for existing facilities. Provides project management support for sustainability projects, initiatives and efforts. Collaborates with a diverse group of stakeholders, including engineering, maintenance, and external partners to ensure successful project execution. Performs advanced engineering support to provide technical expertise and competence to achieve company sustainability goals and objectives. Aid in the development of project scope, methodology and action plans to reduce energy consumption across Universal Destinations & Experiences (UDX). Supports sustainability projects and initiatives in support of overall strategy led by NBCU & UDX Sustainability leadership.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support the project management and coordination of sustainability projects, initiatives and efforts in coordination with internal project teams, external consultants and contractors from design through construction.
  • Maintain established project schedules and cost estimates. Provide administrative leadership for assigned projects and initiatives while maintaining clear communication with Sustainability leadership team.
  • Performs evaluations of existing MEP systems with a focus on reducing carbon emissions and operational and maintenance expenses. Conduct field surveys as needed. Partner with internal clients to facilitate productivity and efficiency related analyses. Evaluate and improve methods and procedures for the various operational processes throughout the resort. Also partner with external vendors to provide solutions to improve operations and initiatives
  • Establish key performance tracking metrics and monitor ongoing progress. Aid in the development and delivery of business cases & presentations to be presented from front line stakeholders to executive leadership
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, architecture, engineering, sustainability or environmental sciences is required.
EXPERIENCE:
  • 5+ years of experience in sustainability/LEED consulting, architecture or engineering required with 1+ year of project management experience in an engineering environment preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • Strong knowledge of architecture, engineering, the design process and general construction practices.
  • Must be able to read architectural and engineering drawings and specifications
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Critical thinker with the ability to think creatively and develop tangible solutions to complex problems.
  • Work collaboratively with a team on projects and topics outside of your area of expertise.
  • Ability to effectively manage meetings with both internal and external stakeholders, often with competing goals and priorities.
  • Quickly and concisely create reports and presentations. Showcase your knowledge and exude confidence when presenting to project teams and senior leaders.
  • Conduct market research, identify market trends and technologies for innovative solutions and processes.
  • Ability to thrive while working on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to learn quickly in areas outside of your expertise.
  • Understand the strengths and limitations of various technologies related to effectiveness and cost benefit.
